Arsenal get opportunity to snap up Real Madrid contract rebel

Arsenal and Tottenham have reportedly been offered the chance to land Lucas Vazquez from Real Madrid this summer.

The Spaniard has been at the Santiago Bernabeu outfit for 14 years but looks set to seek pastures new in the summer.

He is out of contract in June and has rejected Madrid’s offer of a new contract with just three months to go until the player becomes a free agent.

The Spanish side asked the 29-year-old to take a 10% pay cut, which is understood to be the key reason for Lucas’ rejection.

And the attacker, who can also play at right-back, could be on his way to England ahead of next season.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners and Spurs have both been sounded out by the player’s agent.

He has spent his entire career to date with Los Blancos, save for a loan stint at Espanyol in 2014/15.

He is now interested in a new experience and has reportedly told his entourage to find him an employer in England.

Arsenal and Tottenham are seen as potential destinations for Vazquez, who could be replaced by Jorge de Frutos of Levante.

The forward worked with Jose Mourinho in Madrid and would relish the chance to be reunited with the former coach at Spurs.

Mikel Arteta’s side have also been contacted, with Lucas especially keen on living in London.
