Arsenal manager Arteta promotes five Nigeria-eligible young stars to first-team training

Nigerian-born midfielder Tim Akinola and striker Folarin Balogun were spotted training with the first team on Wednesday and they were joined by defender Mazeed Ogungbo, left-back Tolaji Bola, and right-back Ryan Alebiosu in yesterday's workout at London Colney.

Miguel Azeez and Daniel Oyegoke would have been in contention to be called up to join the first team but the two promising teenagers are currently on international duty with the England youth team squads.

Of the aforementioned players of Nigerian descent, only Balogun and Azeez have made their professional debuts for the north London club.

The Anglo-Nigerian-American attacker is coming off the back of scoring a brilliant goal against Everton in the Premier League 2 last weekend which took his tally for the season to 11 goals for all the Arsenal teams.

Bola is back at Arsenal after spending the first part of the season on loan at League One club Rochdale, for whom he made 12 appearances.
