Bukayo Saka injury update and latest Arsenal team news ahead of Liverpool clash

All the very latest on the Arsenal injury front ahead of this weekend's Premier League encounter with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal went into the international break off the back of a Premier League classic after the Gunners recovered from being 3-0 down inside 32 minutes to draw 3-3- with West Ham United at the London Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side return to action at 8pm on Saturday evening with another tough league fixture when reigning champions Liverpool visit the Emirates.

With the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold dropped from the England squad and Roberto Firminho returning to fitness, Liverpool are sure to pose a tough test for Arsenal as the Gunners look to close the four-point gap to Jurgen Klopp's men.

Arteta will be sweating on the fitness of a number of his players following injuries picked up whilst with their countries and ones they took into the break.

With one round of international matches still to be played, the Gunners boss is sure to be crossing his fingers for no other knocks to be added to his list of absent players.

With that in mind, here is the very latest on the Arsenal injury front.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka returned to the Arsenal XI against West Ham after missing the 1-0 defeat to Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League three days earlier because of a hamstring problem.

He played 74 minutes at the London Stadium before being replaced by Nicolas Pepe.

However, the teenager withdrew from the England squad due to a hamstring injury and has remained with Arsenal in a bid to recover in time for the Liverpool match.

There was some hope the Arsenal star would be fit for England's match versus Poland on Wednesday night but he was not deemed fully fit for the match at Wembley.

A return against Liverpool on Saturday would be a welcome boost for Arteta and following a two-week break from action, a rested Saka could well make it into the starting XI.

Martin Odegaard

The Real Madrid loanee was withdrawn from action at the halfway point of Norway's 3-0 victory over Gibraltar with fears he had picked up an injury that would keep him out of action for Arsenal.

However, these concerns were allayed when the Norway skipper returned to his national side and played the full 90 minutes in their next match, a 3-0 loss to Turkey.

Odegaard is expected to lead his team in Tuesday evening's clash with Montenegro and barring any new injury worries will be fit for the Liverpool match on Saturday.
