Mikel Arteta provides an update on Bukayo Saka injury situation

Bukayo Saka has been pivotal for Arsenal but had to be substituted at halftime against Tottenham.

Finally, Arsenal fans had something to celebrate as their team went on to record a strong comeback against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspurs. The rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham has grown over the years and this fixture was very important as Tottenham won the last one.

Goals from Lacazette and Odegaard were enough to see Arsenal through the finish line. The match was full of controversies. Alexander Lacazette was on the receiving end of a gracious penalty which he slotted home calmly.

Tottenham’s goal scorer Erik Lamela was sent off and Harry Kane came very close to equalizing twice. But in the end, it was Arsenal’s day as they got the 3 points. A win will do well for boosting the morale at Arsenal.

Arsenal are in the 9th position as of now. With only 10 games left it will be very hard to break through the top 6, specially with clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham lying ahead of them. The only real hope for Arsenal is the Europa League.

Mikel Arteta took the club to two trophies in his first season. He will hope that he can follow up with an even bigger one this season. But the game against Tottenham took its toll on Arsenal too.

Bukayo Saka was feeling uncomfortable at the end of the half and had to be taken off. Saka has been a very important part of the team for Arsenal. If he is out for a long time it will seriously hurt Arsenal’s ambitions.

The extent of the graveness of Saka injury is still unknown

Bukayo Saka is one of the few players who have been consistently performing for Arsenal this season. Saka broke through the first team ranks last season and has been in the squad for Mikel Arteta ever since.

Saka also secured a mega-contract at the start of the season along with the number 7 jersey for Arsenal. He has been a part of 34 games for the club with 6 goals and 7 assists to his name. The numbers aren’t too great but his impact can be felt on the field.

This was Mikel Arteta’s statement on the situation according to the Sports Preview. “We don’t know. He was feeling his hamstring so we don’t know how bad it is.”

It will be good for Arsenal if he comes back soon. A pretty tough stretch awaits them as we near the climax of the season. Arsenal should go comfortably through this round in the Europa League.

But there are still tough competitors left in the competition. Even in the Premier League 4 out of their 10 games are against oppositions higher up in the table. If Saka is not available for a longer period it will be a good opportunity for someone like Willian to step up.

Willian hasn’t been very impressive for Arsenal this season and this might be his opportunity. The next game is crucial for them even if they’re 2 goals up. Arsenal needs to show consistency because they face West Ham & Liverpool next who are both above them in the table.
