Arsenal set to make approach for 23-year-old midfielder valued at£40m

Arsenal are reportedly ready to make move for Nabil Fekir or Emiliano Buendia if their attempts to secure services of Martin Odegaard from La Liga giants Real Madrid permanently prove unsuccessful.

Norway international midfielder adapted to the Premier League straight away after arriving on loan in the winter transfer window, and the North London club are unsurprisingly being tipped to secure the services of the Norway skipper on a permanent basis this summer.

However, La Liga giants Real Madrid are supposedly reluctant to let Martin Odegaard depart as they view him as an integral part of their team in the future, and with the playmaker’s reported £300m release clause also proving problematic, alternatives will be sought if they cannot come to an agreement with Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggests that the North London club are keeping tabs on the two possible alternatives, telling the Here We Go Podcast: “Fekir is one of the players that Arsenal appreciate, as is Buendia. But the priority is to try for Odegaard.”

Fekir is believed to possess a £77m release clause in his Real Betis deal, however, the 27-year-old could reportedly be available for a cut-price deal of £26m this summer, while Norwich City would demand a fee around the £40m for Buendia.

However, keeping 22-year-old Real Madrid star on the books is believed to be the Gunners priority, however, the North London club will supposedly wait until the summer to discuss his future with Real Madrid
